Designers: Sonia Rykiel + Competition

Today I feel like doing a designer post, this time it is about Sonia Rykiel... Sonia Rykiel was one of the tribute stores on stardoll of summer 2010.

Sonia Rykiel is a French fashion designer born in Paris in 1930. She had a Russian mother and Romanian father. At the age of 17, she was employed to dress the window displays in a Parisian textile store. In 1953 Sonia married Sam Rykiel, owner of a boutique selling elegant clothing. In 1962 she just couldn't find any soft sweaters to wear when she was pregnant. So she used a supplier to her husband from Venice to design her own. Sonia Rykiel created her first maternity dresses and tiny sweater. The sweater is her symbol and she was crowned "Queen of Knits" by the Americans in 1967. She later became the first designer to put seams on the outside of a garment, and to print words on her sweaters. In particular, she favours long clinging sweaters or small cropped pullovers, large rolled-back cuffs and long shawls. In 1980 she was voted one of the world's 10 most elegant women. This time in my designer post.. to make it a little more interesting I am going to add a competition. You need to create an outfit inspired by Sonia Rykiel, it can be inspired by Sonia Rykiel in general, one particular outfit or one particular collection. You can make your outfit in starplaza or your suite. Print screen your image, save it in paint or a different image software. Upload your image to an image hosting website like imgur.com or tinypic.com. Post your link in comments with your stardoll username. You must not edit your entry with photoshop. I will upload the best ones to next weeks post with a poll. The winner will win 100sd.
